Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre Opens CATCH YOUR BREATH Tonight, 10/25

Heidi-Duckler-Dance-Theatre-Opens-CATCH-YOUR-BREATH-1011-20120907

Inhale…Exhale…For more than a century, Los Angeles' Barlow Respiratory Hospital has guided its patients and California to "breathe easier." Opening tonight, October 25th, Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre's (HDDT) Catch Your Breath will examine the intersection of art and learning through the fundamental act of breathing.

The historic hospital has commissioned HDDT to create a new work inspired Barlow's 110-year heritage. Designed as an artistic journey through the environs of the hospital property, the performance will guide the audience through scenes motivated by the preserved and reinvigorated spaces of the Barlow facility, the history of the hospital, and specific patients' stories to recovery. Inspired by the individuals whose lives have been changed as a result of their time at Barlow, HDDT will highlight the hospital's past, while celebrating its future through captivating live performance.

Like the hospital's acute concentration on healing, HDDT's Catch Your Breath will portray the sense of recovery, and the life-changing, compassionate atmosphere found within Barlow. Drawing upon Barlow's focus on "the whole person, not just the illness," HDDT will place the physical body at the core of the piece, with revitalizing choreography that will highlight the beauty and significance of the hospital grounds and allow the audience to see the beacon of hope the enhanced Barlow Respiratory Hospital provides for its patients, families, and the community.

Tonight, October 25th, 2012 at 7:00pm celebrates the show's opening night and reception. Tickets are $100. For the rest of the run through October 28, 2012, the show plays at 7:00 and 9:00 pm for $25. Barlow Respiratory Hospital is located at 2000 Stadium Way, Los Angeles, Calif. Tickets are on sale now. To purchase, visit: www.heididuckler.org or call 818-784-8669.
