LA Choreographers & Dancers Present Fundraising USA Project 'Tap Dance Widows Club/The Baggage Project'

Los Angeles Choreographers & Dancers has announced its first fundraising USA Project, "Tap Dance Widows Club/ The Baggage Project, Multiple dance forms in a unique multimedia piece using the power of Dance, an inside story from 30's Hollywood to now, inspired by a death."

Help the organization by visiting the site to view a short video with clips, artwork, & live dance from The Baggage Project.

The premiere of the work will be tonight, November 16-18, 2012, at the Miles Memorial Playhouse in Santa Monica. Come see it, and please help LA Choreographers & Dancers fund it. The group only has 28 days to raise $5,000 or they can't access the funds.

Los Angeles Choreographers & Dancers presents Louise Reichlin & Dancers in "Baggage", featuring 'Mourning Light', 'Tap Dance Widows Club' (premiere), 'Remembrance' 'new york 1960's, hot sidewalks, moondog on 6th ave, splatter paint (in progress) and 'Tribute', plus a conversation with the audience. Director/Choreographer: Louise Reichlin; Visual Artist: Audri Phillips; Tribute: Guest Tap Dancers.

"Baggage" runs tonight, November 16-18, 2012, Friday at 7:30 pm, Saturday at 4:00 & 7:30 pm, and Sunday at 4:00 pm at the Miles Memorial Playhouse, located at 1130 Lincoln Blvd, Santa Monica, Calif. ADMISSION: $20 General Admission, $17 Students/Seniors/DRC with ID Available for purchase HERE.

The past and present meet for an eclectic celebration of life! Tap Dance Widows Club, an innovative flagship work by Louise Reichlin & Dancers, ignites and brings together multiple dance forms in a unique multimedia piece using the power of Dance; an inside story from 30's Hollywood to now.

Louise Reichlin (widow of Alfred Desio), Loretta Zerby (widow of Jon Zerby), and Katherine Hopkins-Nicholas (widow of Fayard Nicholas) met to share memories, photos, and videos of their well-known husbands. Their conversations about moving forward without their husbands' physical presence are both hilarious and moving; this became the audio for this transformative work.

After grieving for the loss of a loved one, we accept the richness that person has brought to our lives. Join us for a suite that includes live dance combined with user and artist-generated multimedia that explores our changing perception of death, and the positive baggage we carry with us when a loved one is no longer corporal but still present.
