Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company Comes to Three Stages Tonight, 10/6

Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company comes to Three Stages with "Dynasties & Beyond." Elegant, sensual, and captivating, the company melds ancient Chinese forms with modern dance in an artistic and inventive marriage of styles. "In the first six spellbinding minutes, Lily Cai served notice to her audience that they were in for an evening that would be not only exotic, but brilliantly theatrical… ?a terrific show" (Sacramento Bee). This performance is supported, ?in part, by an award from the ?National Endowment for the Arts.

"In inviting three dance companies-including Lily Cai's- to Three Stages as part of the Sacramento World Music and Dance Festival, I wanted to provide three distinct looks at the diverse dance talent of California," said Executive Director Dave Pier. "It is an excellent opportunity for families to experience a wide range of dance over one exciting weekend." Joining Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company from October 5 through October 7 is Danza Floricanto/USA and Lula Washington Dance Theatre.

Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company will perform in Three Stages tonight, Oct 6, 2012 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $19-$29, Premium $39; Students & Children: $12. Tickets may be purchased online at www.threestages.net or from Three Stages Ticket Office at 916-608-6888 from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday through Saturday, and two hours before show time. Three Stages is located on the west side of Folsom Lake College campus in Folsom, CA, facing East Bidwell Street.

The Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company bridges the continuum from past to contemporary - from spectacular court dances of Chinese dynasties to contemporary works fusing classical Chinese movement, modern dance, and ballet, complemented by unique costumes and original music. The Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company is now celebrating its 24th season, performing a repertoire of works exclusively choreographed by Artistic Director and Founder, Lily Cai.

Established in 1988, the Company tours extensively across the United States and internationally. The Company has received accolades for its performances across the country, from Hawaii and the West Coast to New York, the Virgin Islands, and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. The Company has also performed for a diverse selection of special events, from the opening of a 1994 Grateful Dead concert at the Coliseum in Oakland, United Nations' 50th Anniversary Celebration in 1995 and the 2006 Goldman Environmental Prize Awards in San Francisco, to corporate incentive events in Mexico. In 1996, the Company received the Outstanding Achievement in Company Performance Award from Isadora Duncan Dance Awards Committee for a collaborative performance with Oakland's Dimensions Dance Theater entitled "Common Ground." Northern California Public Broadcasting station KQED selected Lily Cai as an outstanding artist, profiling her artistry and the company in their 2007 "Spark" program.
