THE KITCHEN RIOTS New Works Festival Set for Abingdon Theatre, Now thru 10/6

The 2nd night of The Kitchen Riots Festival will use music to explore the human spirit’s desire to worship and to be loved. Erica Jacob, Music Director and Songwriter, has created a cabaret-style setting for a night of soul-revealing secrets. These unique stories will speak to our shared humanity and will ultimately leave the audience thrilled and inspired.

The final night of The Kitchen Riots Festival is the performance of a new one-act play entitled Call Me She. Imagine you’re running… 15 minutes later you wake up in an ambulance and three weeks have gone by, everyone you know has been looking for you, but you don’t remember a thing. Based on a true story, Call Me She abstracts the story of a missing woman found floating face down off of Staten Island and thrust back into normal life. Haunted by the Nowhere, who was She before? Who is She now? And can She begin again?

Most recently, Purple Threads Ensemble hosted The Kitchen Riots Benefit Concert featuring Laura Osnes (Bonnie and Clyde, Anything Goes) headlining a roster of New York musical theatre and opera vocalists. Founded in 2008, Purple Threads Ensemble is an artist collective whose purpose is impactful and meaningful storytelling. They foster a belief that good work comes from a healthy, inspired work environment. Their goal is to produce groundbreaking theatre, original choreography, and innovative festivals that seek to explore the human condition.
