WHBPAC Arts Education to Host SWAN LAKE Ballet Program, 2/26-5/5

Based on the overwhelming success of the Summer Ballet Camp and Nutcracker Ballet Program, young dancers will now have the opportunity to spread their wings during the spring as the WHBPAC Arts Education program introduces Dancecore's new Swan Lake Ballet Program. This residency, running from February 26 - May 5, not only provides high quality dance instruction, but also gives young people the thrill of performing alongside ballet professionals on the WHBPAC stage. Students will be placed in groups according to age and will rehearse and receive ballet instruction over the course of nine weeks. Registration is now open.

The program culminates in a public performance of Swan Lake Ballet on Saturday, May 4 at 7pm and Sunday, May 5 at 3pm. Set to the hauntingly beautiful Tchaikovsky score, Swan Lake Ballet tells the classic tale of Odette, a beautiful maiden transformed into a swan by an evil knight, and the prince who swears his enduring love for her - good vs. evil in black and white. Students will be outfitted with divine tailor-made costumes as the dance against a vibrant custom-made backdrop.

What's more, while young dancers are rehearsing, parents can relax in the newly refurbished WHBPAC Parent Lounge where they can enjoy refreshments, coffee and complementary wi-fi access. Parents will also have the opportunity to visit with the gifted WHBPAC Arts Ed Staff to discuss their child's development within the program.

The goal of the WHBPAC's Arts Education Program is to ensure that the arts play an integral role in the lives of both children and adults in our communities. WHBPAC Arts Education Programs currently provide a distinctive and comprehensive array of offerings for children and their families year-round. Participation in the performing arts can unleash creative energy, help youths find their unique voice, reinforce valuable life skills and support the development of an appreciation and lifelong love for the arts.
