BWW Reviews: Bittersweet Evening for Inlet Dance

BWW Review: Mark Morris Dance - A Contrast of Two Acts at the Palace
by Roy Berko

Mark Morris Dance Group's first Cleveland appearance in five years was a mixed bag. After pleasing the audience with a delightful first act, the tone switched drastically in the second half, which though well presented, was tedious.

BWW Review: Verb Ballets at Breen - A Fusion of Asian and Western Choreography
by Roy Berko

EXPLORE DISCOVER, Verb Ballet's Winter, 2013 series, was highlighted by the exciting works of Chung-Fu Chang and Richard Dickinson. It was a wonderful illumination of western and eastern modern and balletic dance.

A Look Behind the Scenes at Inlet Dance's Marvelous Evening of Dance
by Roy Berko

Every once in a while a reviewer has the opportunity to not only see an enthralling dance performance, but to experience it from the inside. I accomplished both when I not only saw Inlet Dance's recent evening of dance, but sat in on a rehearsal.

BWW Reviews: Verb Ballet's EXPLORE DISCOVER Echoes Its Name
by Roy Berko

Antonio Brown, whose work was the centerpiece of EXPLORE DISCOVER (9/22/12) has great potential as a choreographer. Though it might be incumbent upon a local reviewer to extol his work, it would not be a service to him or his audience. Brown is just developing a style and dance philosophy that will take years and maturity to polish, and needs honest evaluation to help him on his path. Verb should be praised for giving the young man a chance to ply his creativity and give him a chance to experiment.

BWW Reviews: Classic and Modern Ballet Highlight POINTE OF DEPARTURE at Cleveland's Cain Park
by Roy Berko

Cleveland needs a resident ballet company. Although not world-class, Pointe of Departure would be a wonderful permanent addition to the local scene. It can only be wished that Gabay and her company will find the desire and financing to make their home here, permanent.
