True to their legacy of sharing new work alongside established virtuosity, the 2022-2023 Re-Opening Season will activate old artistic partnerships and build new friendships.

Charlotte d’Amboise (Chicago; A Chorus Line) and Bianca Marroquín (Chicago; Fosse/Verdon) will host the 2022 Chita Rivera Awards, it was announced today.

YoungArts congratulates the 58th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars, with special acknowledgement to the 20 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts (full list below) who are YoungArts award winners and were nominated for the honor by YoungArts. The U.S. Presidential Scholars award—one of the nation's highest honors for high school students who exemplify academic excellence, leadership qualities and community service—is presented on behalf of the President of the United States and honors up to 161 graduating high school seniors of high potential each year. Students who would like to be considered for U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts must be YoungArts award winners. Applications for the 2023 YoungArts competition will open on June 7, 2022 at youngarts.org/competition.

Complexions Contemporary Ballet, a “matchless American dance company” (Philadelphia Inquirer), makes its Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts debut with three performance on April 14, 15 and 16, 2022, 7:30 pm, in the Bram Goldsmith Theater.

This April, San Francisco Ballet will present three world premieres: Artistic Director & Principal Choreographer Helgi Tomasson's Harmony, Christopher Wheeldon's Finale Finale, and Dwight Rhoden's The Promised Land. Emerging from the twin pandemics of Covid-19 and the racial reckoning in the U.S., and celebrating the long career of Helgi Tomasson, these works continue SF Ballet's tradition of cultivating new works and perspectives.

State Theatre New Jersey presents Complexions Contemporary Ballet on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 8pm.

New Jersey Youth Symphony member Ryoma Takenaga of New Providence, NJ from the Academy for Information Technology, has received a 2022 YoungArts award in Jazz. Takenaga has been recognized at the Honorable Mention level, the organization's second highest honor.

Jose Solís, Alicia Ramírez and Juan Michael Porter II have a lot in common. All three are passionate about the performing arts and have written theatre articles and reviews for prestigious publications. They are also accustomed to often being some of the few non-white audience members at shows—but that is something they're actively working to change.

All YoungArts award winners will receive financial awards of up to $10,000, opportunities to work with leading artists and will become eligible for exclusive creative and professional development support throughout their careers.

Ulysses Dove, the brilliant choreographer and dancer, died from AIDS 25 years ago on June 11, 1996 at the age of 49.

The Lar Lubovitch Dance Company will present a unique compilation of highlights from the broadcast premieres of three acclaimed works by Lar Lubovitch including the duet from Concerto Six Twenty-Two, danced by the Lubovitch company; Othello, performed by San Francisco Ballet; and The Planets, created for an ensemble of both ice skaters and non-skating dancers from the US and Canada.
